ELIZABETH
ARANGO, LCSW
I am a licensed clinical social work supervisor (LCSW-S). I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from The University of Washington in Seattle and a Master’s of Social Work with a clinical concentration from New York University in Manhattan, NYC. I have specialized training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. I can currently offer Ketamine assisted psychotherapy in-office.
I have over 18 years of experience as a psychotherapist. My expertise are in eating disorders, family based treatment (FBT), relational issues, and personality disorders. My professional journey has encompassed a diverse array of experiences that have shaped how I practice. My time in NYC comprised settings such as hospital social work, community mental health, and working within the New York City Public Schools. In Houston, I worked for 9 years at The Menninger Clinic. Five years as a family and individual therapist on the Compass Unit for Young Adults. Following that, I was the Director of Eating Disorder Services, a position I held for over 4 years.
For 8 years I supervised Social Work Fellows while at The Menninger Clinic and continue to supervise and consult those working toward their LCSW licensure. I utilize several therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Family Based Treatment and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. With a special interest and background in training students and clinicians, I offer clinical supervision, with a focus in eating disorders and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies, as well as training and consultation services to community leaders and mental health providers.
